Renae Myrie is an upcoming Haute Couture designer from May Pen Clarendon Jamaica whom the world should look out for. She states "from me eye dey a me knee me a hot gal’. Her love for fashion saw her borrowing her mom's clothing while she was at work and sacrificing food for clothes by saving her lunch money to buy fashionable clothes. With this passion, she designed her first outfit at the age of 18. Renae did not design anymore until 2018 when she started designing outfits for special occasions such as my birthday and major parties. In 2021 Renae's cousin invited her to a party and because the party was the same day, she didn’t get a chance to buy something new so she wore the dress she designed in 2018 for her birthday. Renae was skeptical about wearing it because to her it was old and she dose not like to repeat her designs. To her surprise when she got to the party everyone with eyes was staring at her outfit. Every selector at the event talked about her dress when they went on the mike, one even asked where she got the dress and she told him she designed it. People started walking up to her asking her to design clothes for them. Renae was in awe to know that something she designed three years prior that she thought was outdated drew so much attention. That experience ignited an undeniable desire for her to become a fashion designer. In 2022 one of her New Year’s resolution was to turn social media into her runway and make a name for myself in the fashion industry. She started calling her designs “Aura Koutura”. Aura is the distinctive atmosphere or quality that seems to surround and be generated by a person, thing, or place. Therefore she envision that her clothing would demonstrate her different moods and capture the Aura she want to present whenever she walk into a room. Koutura means ‘Couture-Her’. Renae replaced the ‘C’ from Couture (the type of fashion she love) with a ‘K’ and added an ‘A’ to get the pronunciation of the meaning in Patios her native Jamaican dialect. Since the birth of Aura Koutura she have managed to maintain the same head turning effect when she walk into a room. She have been featured on CVM at Sunrise fashion alert, She have done (one)1 fashion show, with two(2) pending and she was invited to be apart of Saints International Avante Garde Competition. Renae is working towards her desire to own a fashion house in Paris and become a world renowned brand; as her ultimate goal is to build a Beauty and Fashion Empire. Renae also make organic perfumes, skin and hair care products. Renae will be showing her latest collections at Fashion in the West December 7th, at Chances, Negril Jamaica.
